Zodiac Tattoos: What's Your Sign?

The zodiac is comprised of twelve houses or signs that are associated with the alignment of the planets during the month you were born.  The zodiac and the zodiac signs are part of the science or astrology and it is believed that your sign reveals a lot about who you are.  It is no wonder that so many people—whether they believe in astrology or not—choose zodiac tattoos as a sign of their self-expression.  Even if you aren't a believer there is something interesting and fun about learning which sign is yours, what the symbols are and what kind of interesting tattoo that would make.  The first two keys to getting zodiac tattoos are first, knowing what sign you are and second finding out what the symbol for your sign is:

  • Aquarius (January 21-February 19):  The water bearer may be shown as a man pouring water from an urn, two squiggly lines representing water or just the urn with water flowing out of it.
  • Pisces (February 20-March 20):  Pisces is usually displayed as two fish facing opposite directions and connected by a string.
  • Aries (March 21-April 20):  The ram, there are so many ways to draw a ram, could even just use ram's horns.
  • Taurus (April 21-May 21):  The bull.  Again, this is an easy one to ink in different ways.
  • Gemini (May 22-June 21):  The twins.  These can be shown as people or sometimes just twins of anything can symbolic of Gemini.
  • Cancer (June 22-July 22):  The crab.  You know, the kind that lives in the ocean, not your spouse when they don't get enough sleep.
  • Leo (July 23-August 22):  Leo is the lion and this is another one you can have fun designing a zodiac tattoo for.
  • Virgo (August 23-September 23): Virgo is the virgin who is usually portrayed as a young maiden in Greek robes.
  • Libra (September 24-October 23):  The classic symbol for Libra is the scale (the old kind they used to weigh money and goods for trading, often associated with justice).
  • Scorpio (October 24-November 22):  The scorpion makes an awesome zodiac tattoo either in great detail or as a tribal tattoo.
  • Sagittarius (November 23-December 22):  Sagittarius is the archer who is usually depicted as a centaur and also makes an incredible tattoo.
  • Capricorn (December 23-January 20):  Capricorn is usually seen as a goat.  Animals always make great zodiac tattoos and there are just so many ways you can portray them.

Once you know your sign and the symbol that represents it, you can have a lot of fun creating getting your own zodiac tattoo.  Another option is to use the glyph—a simple symbol—for your zodiac tattoo.  Any way you do it, getting a zodiac tattoo is a great way to show the world who you are.
