The heart tattoo is a very popular design right now. The heart tattoo can represent many different things so it becomes a blank canvas for each individual to use in order to create their own personal design. The heart design classically symbolizes love, but it can also be used to represent truth, emotion, or virtue. It is typically red to represent the blood that it pumps throughout the body. Like the butterfly, it is typically more of a feminine tattoo design than a masculine choice although some men do get heart designs. In the modern world there are many different heart designs these are just a few of the most popular ones.
A heart with a dagger through it will generally mean betrayal or mistrust. A heart encircled by a crown of thorns like those that Jesus wore on the cross is known as the sacred heart. The thorns’ piercing the heart symbolizes the suffering that Jesus endured for the human race. Another popular variation is two broken hearts. This is a more permanent use of the broken hearts amulet on a chain. It will be used by two people that love each other and are going to be experiencing an extended absence from one another. One variation of the heart tattoo that is almost exclusively used by males is the mom tattoo. It is used by men to show their undying devotion to the woman who gave them life. Some men consider it the most important tattoo that they can have on their body. It symbolizes to them that a mother never changes.
A heart pierced by an arrow is used to represent the pain, both good and bad, that love can sometimes create. A relatively new heart design is a heart that is shown to be stitched or have a band-aid on it. This type of heart design is generally used to represent someone that has survived heart disease. Along with the designs that have already been mentioned you can take a heart tattoo and add an almost endless number of options to it so that it becomes a totally and unique representation of your personality. One example would be to add flames so that you can show the world that you have a burning love for someone. As with any tattoo make your decision to have a tattoo carefully as they are a permanent fixture in your life. Due to the wide variety of heart designs be sure to consult closely with the artist to come up with the best design for you. |
